Harmonies For Healing: Under The Streetlamp is a two-part docu-series about the transformative power of music to affect positive change in the lives of individuals and their communities. The series follows nationally lauded singing group Under The Streetlamp as they launch a singing competition to find talented vocalists with compelling stories to share. The goal is to form a “super group” of singers who will then perform with the acclaimed quartet in a live concert. Set in two Northwest Indiana counties and featuring a wide age-range of participants (from high school to senior citizens), Harmonies For Healing chronicles this heartwarming experience as 16 singers come together to create music and inspire individuals to follow their dreams.
IN EPISODE ONE, viewers meet the contestants and members of Under The Streetlamp, and hear stories about their lives, hopes and dreams. Auditions highlight the range of talent and diverse musical interests of the supergroup hopefuls. The callback process involves working with the semi-finalists on the difficult task of harmonizing and listening to one another’s voices. The episode culminates in an announcement of who has made the final ensemble.
EPISODE TWO documents the rehearsal process as the group begins to congeal, and offers profiles of some of the “super group” members, with an inspirational focus on how music has helped them heal. Through on-on-one interactions with Under The Streetlamp, viewers learn why the group wants to use the power of music to bring people together, and also what drives them as individuals and as a singing group. The series ends with final preparations and a heart-warming live concert with Under The Streetlamp.
